Which birds does it know?

How it works

The photo (or the box you draw) is resized to 260×260 pixels and passed to an EfficientNet-B2 image classifier fine-tuned on 525 bird species. Everything runs in your browser with onnxruntime-web — WebGPU when your device has it, WebAssembly otherwise. The 34 MB model is downloaded once, checked against its SHA-256 fingerprint, and kept in your browser's cache.

Confidence is the model's own probability. It is a guide, not a guarantee: a bird outside the 525 species still gets the closest-looking match, juveniles and females are harder than adult males, and distant or partly hidden birds are harder than close-ups. Check the species card links before you log a sighting.
